“The provincial Liberal government may as well have declared the airspace over London a no-fly zone.” – Metro London, April 30,2014
LONDON – “New Liberal taxes would threaten more than a thousand jobs and the very survival of the London airport,” said Ontario PC Candidate Jeff Yurek. “So will Deb Matthews tell us why she supports taxes that would cost London hundreds of jobs?
Yurek spoke to media at the London International Airport. The airport and its associated businesses employ over 1700 people. But Deb Matthews and the Liberals want to increase the aviation fuel tax, which would drive jobs and opportunities out of our city.
“Deb Matthews and the McGuinty-Wynne Liberals have already sent good jobs and great companies like Kellogg’s out of London with their policies,” said Yurek. “Now, these new taxes would threaten London’s airport, along with the jobs and companies that depend on that key piece of public infrastructure.”
“Ontario already has the highest tax on aviation fuel of any jurisdiction in North America,” said Yurek. “Our city and our province will continue to lose business and jobs if we increase taxes any further.”
“Only the Ontario PC Party has a plan for new jobs and low taxes to get Ontario working better.”
